◆ CASE STUDY · UK BRAND EXPANSION

Most International Brands Stall at the U.S. Border. This One Didn't.

U.S. market entry for international brands through Marketplace Valet delivers compliant FBA scaling for regulated product lines. Founded in 2016 and led by Will Land, Laura Land, and Justin Boggs, the agency resolved hazmat compliance barriers and launched a UK consumer brand with approximately $10M in European sales into the U.S. Amazon marketplace. Ordered revenue grew 171% and ordered units increased 158%. Results may vary.

THE PROBLEM

The Problem With Most U.S. Launches

Most international brands do the same thing: copy European listings into Seller Central, set up Fulfillment by Merchant, and wait. What they get is flat sales and low visibility. FBM has no Prime eligibility. Without FBA, the brand is invisible to most U.S. buyers.

The catalog compounds it. European terminology, European search framing — none of that maps to how U.S. buyers shop.

For regulated products — aerosols, chemical formulations — there's an additional wall. Amazon's hazmat classification means documentation requirements, labeling standards, and hard FBA storage limits. Most agencies hit that wall and stop.

This brand had already tried the FBM path. It wasn't working.

WHAT MARKETPLACE VALET DID

What Marketplace Valet Did

The engagement started with compliance, not the catalog.

Marketplace Valet's operations team, led by Will Land alongside internal hazmat specialists, cleared the regulated product line for FBA — including securing expanded hazmat storage capacity so inventory could actually move at commercial volume.

Once compliance was in place, the team rebuilt the catalog for the U.S. marketplace. That's not a translation. Search terminology, title structure, and backend data all work differently here than in European markets.

Results may vary.

The revenue and unit lift came from FBA — not advertising alone.

Prime eligibility changed the visibility equation. The catalog rebuild drove conversion. A listing built for U.S. search behavior converts differently than one ported from a European account.

QUALIFICATION

Who This Is Not For

International expansion takes time. Regulated products add layers. Overseas logistics mean real lead times.

Expecting Quick Results.

A brand expecting quick results before committing to the channel long-term will not get a good outcome here.

Needing Proof of Concept in 30 Days.

If proof of concept in 30 days is the requirement, this is the wrong engagement.
